At Seniman, coffee is an art

While we were in Bali, we spent our time in one of the nicest cafes we have ever been, Seniman Coffee Studio. We liked this place for the creamy flat white, which is one of our favorite beverages. We had small talks with the staff, and we came to know more about the coffee industry. It started to be a beautiful routine for us to start our day at Seniman with a flat white. We worked from there, so we had plenty of time to taste many of their coffee flavors.

This is how we decided to attend one of their coffee workshops, Milk and Latte Art.

We started it by learning how to grind properly the coffee, as this is a very important step for the quality of the espresso.

Basically, there are a few important things that you should know about your espresso:

  • how to grind the coffee
  • the amount of coffee you use for it. We used 21 grams for one double espresso and we should have a maximum of 42 grams of coffee from it.
  • you need to set a timer, and your espresso should be ready between 25 and 30 seconds.

After this step, you learn how to nicely design something in your coffee using milk foam and your imagination. Don’t worry, the barista explains everything you need to know, he guides you and the class is over only when you know how to do it by yourself.

It seems simple but is not. Maybe, this is one of the main things we learned about coffee. It is more complex then it looks. Of course, almost everyone is able to make a coffee but for a good one, you need to have some skills.

For us, it was an amazing day. We learned a lot about what we had in our cup every morning, about how to create a flat white, one of our favorite beverages from Seniman Coffee Studio.

We had a lot of fun and the class was very entertaining. We highly recommend it to everyone who wants to know the basics of a good latte.

Another big plus is that you will meet nice people from the coffee niche who are really passionate about what they are doing.

We will come back for sure for another workshop as this one opened our appetite for knowing more about the coffee art.

You can book one of their workshops from here.
